GO4TRAIL 2026 at a glance

GO4TRAIL—also known as Tek treh vrhov—is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026. Its 10 km, 28 km and 64 km races start and finish at the Kayak Centre in Solkan near Nova Gorica. The distances share a practical event base but differ substantially in elevation, technical difficulty, time on course and required equipment.

1. Quick facts for GO4TRAIL 2026

Event date

Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Event base

Kayak Centre Solkan, Nova Gorica, Slovenia.

Routes

GO TRIM 10 km, GO3V 28 km and GO ULTRA 64 km.

Regular registration

Published until November 2, 2026, with race-day entries listed at a higher price.

All routes return to the same event base, which simplifies meeting and transport planning. It does not make the races interchangeable: the longer courses include more technical terrain, greater elevation, longer exposure to November conditions and stricter equipment needs.

Visit the official GO4TRAIL website for current notices, route files and participant instructions.

2. Choose your GO4TRAIL route

Choose by elevation, terrain, technical confidence and expected time outside—not only by distance. Download the current GPX for your selected route and check the final course information shortly before travelling.

Review the organizer’s current pages for GO TRIM, GO3V and GO ULTRA.

3. Understand the terrain before race day

GO4TRAIL uses the landscape around Solkan, Nova Gorica and the hills above the Soča Valley. Depending on the distance, runners may encounter forest paths, gravel, asphalt, rocky singletrack, steep technical descents, historic First World War routes and cross-border terrain.

Sabotin

GO TRIM climbs toward Sabotin and uses rocky, potentially slippery paths. The route includes a suspension-bridge crossing over the Soča.

Three peaks

GO3V connects Škabrijel, Sveta Gora and Sabotin, with technical sections and substantial climbing over 28 km.

Cavern section

The longer experience includes a historic tunnel or cavern section where the organizer requires or describes the use of a headlamp.

River crossing

GO3V event information describes a managed crossing of the Soča by raft. Follow staff instructions and do not substitute an independent crossing plan.

Specific course features can be altered for weather, river, trail or safety conditions. Treat the published route as the basis for preparation, then use the final organizer briefing as the authority on race day.

4. Check mandatory equipment for your distance

The official route pages publish different equipment requirements for GO TRIM, GO3V and GO ULTRA. Do not use the 10 km list for a longer route, and do not rely on a generic trail packing list instead of the organizer’s current rules.

Published GO TRIM essentials

  • Visible race bib.
  • At least 500 ml of water capacity.
  • Reusable drinking cup.
  • Working mobile phone kept on silent.

Published GO3V essentials

  • Visible race bib and sufficient water capacity between aid stations.
  • Emergency blanket and first-aid supplies.
  • Wind jacket and reusable cup.
  • Working mobile phone kept on silent.

Longer-route preparation

  • Check the full current GO ULTRA equipment list item by item.
  • Carry and test the required headlamp before entering any tunnel.
  • Prepare for rain, cold, wind, darkness and slower-than-planned progress.
  • Test poles beforehand if choosing to use them.
  • Label any gels or packaged food if required by the race rules.

5. Registration, transfers and race-pack planning

The official route pages show price periods for each distance, regular registration through November 2 and higher race-day prices. Availability can still be limited, so a published race-day price does not guarantee that an entry will remain available.

The organizer states that illness or injury is not a reason for a refund. A transfer to another person or to the 2027 edition is described as possible through November 2, 2026. Read the exact current conditions before paying or requesting a change.

  • Register only through the organizer’s official link.
  • Save payment confirmation and all participant messages offline.
  • Confirm where and when the race pack and bib can be collected.
  • Do not assume somebody else can collect your pack without written approval.
  • Recheck your emergency contact and phone number.
  • Review transfer conditions before the published November 2 deadline.

Volunteer information mentions race-pack and bib distribution activity on Friday, November 6, but the exact runner collection window should be confirmed from the final participant instructions rather than inferred from volunteer hours.

6. Plan travel to the Kayak Centre in Solkan

The shared start and finish at the Kayak Centre simplifies the basic map: runners return to the same event base. The practical challenge is reaching Solkan early enough for your start, parking or leaving the vehicle correctly, and remaining flexible if local access arrangements change.

Driving

Confirm event parking and road access before departure. Do not assume ordinary visitor parking will remain available beside the start.

Train or bus

Check connections to Nova Gorica and the final transfer to Solkan. Early starts and weekend timetables may require an overnight stay.

Shared journey

Agree on departure time, trail-equipment space, direct costs and what happens if one runner finishes much later.

Return plan

The same start and finish helps, but a long or cold race can make immediate driving unsafe. Build in food, warm clothing and recovery time.

If travelling with others, separate the shared transport plan from the race plan. A driver should not depend on an exact finish time, and a runner should retain access to warm clothing, accommodation and an independent contact. Use the Lumopa guide to sharing a ride to a running race to make the agreement clear.

7. Choose a practical Nova Gorica or Solkan base

An overnight stay can reduce risk for the 07:30 GO ULTRA start and make Friday bib collection easier once the final collection schedule is published. Choose accommodation using actual travel time to the Kayak Centre, not only its distance from Nova Gorica’s centre.

  • Map the route to the Kayak Centre under possible event restrictions.
  • Confirm late Friday arrival or self-check-in.
  • Ask about early breakfast or food preparation.
  • Check storage for wet shoes, poles and race bags.
  • Confirm parking rather than assuming it is included.
  • Plan a warm shower, meal and rest before a long drive home.

If staying across the border or travelling through Italy, verify the practical route, documents and mobile connectivity for the journey separately. Race-course access and ordinary road-border travel are different decisions.

8. Build a race-day timeline

Work backward from your published start and add time for parking or drop-off, bib requirements, toilets, clothing adjustments, equipment checks and finding the correct start area. Do not use the GO TRIM timeline for GO ULTRA.

  • GO ULTRA: start at 07:30; prepare lighting and cold-weather decisions before arriving.
  • GO3V: start at 09:30; keep headlamp and technical equipment accessible.
  • GO TRIM: start at 10:30; do not underestimate the +640 m climb and technical descent.
  • Check the final weather, route and equipment notice before leaving accommodation.
  • Make sure the phone is charged and organizer contacts are saved.
  • Agree on a finish-area meeting point that does not depend on one exact time.

For a complete planning sequence, use Lumopa’s guide to organizing a race weekend. If attending independently, read the practical guide to going to a race alone.
